The Actor and the Housewife by Shannon Hale

Category: Fiction
Published: 2009, 352 pages
Review: 4.5/5
I liked this book way more than I expected to. I had read a few reviews that made me think that I wouldn't like it. It might have been for that very reason that I was so pleasantly surprised. I laughed out loud so many times that my husband said, "I'm going to have to read that book!" He wasn't around though when it made me cry like a baby. The story is completely implausible but it still highly entertained me. It also made me think about marriage, motherhood, friendship, service, and love. This may sound stupid, but this book made me want to be a better mother and wife. It's a little cheesy and cliched at times but I didn't mind because most of the time I loved it.
Rating: 2.1.2 There are some innuendos and "barnyard" language.

I was surprised at how much I cried too. The cover doesn't exactly make you think this is going to be a tear-jerker!

Are you going to hear Shannon Hale on the 24th at the SLC Book Festival? My daughter has arranged with her agent for a short video interview so we'll be there for sure.

I only just started reading Shannon Hale a few months ago and I love her! This is one I hadn't heard about yet but defintely sounds like a must-read.

I hated this book way more than I thought I would.

I couldn't even get half-way, it was making me SICK.

I agree with R Max...silliest book ever written. Didn't think much of Austenland either. But I've heard her YA fiction is really good.

This is the only one by Hale that I haven't read yet. My library doesn't have it, so I may have to buy it. I'm a crybaby, so I'll have the tissue ready!
