Haven't read it but...

A few months back, I checked out Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. It seemed highly praised by critics and others so I wanted to try it out. I ended up being too busy and even though I had started it, I just decided to take it back to the library and try again another time. Since then I've heard from two sources that it has a lot of sex. My friend Jenn had to stop half-way through. You can read a very interesting review of it at Maw Books.

I do seem to be in the minority on this one, though. Most people don't even remember anything about sex (perhaps because it was never between two people). As for me, I thought it was too crude for my tastes. Which is a shame because the story was wonderful!

I may have commented on this somewhere already (bad memory!), but I read about 40 pages and got to a section that to me was pornographic, so I took it back to Target and got my money back! I'm on to the Maw Books Blog next--I'll have to check out that review.

I actually just posted a review of this book on my blog, and I pretty much agree with Maw. Probably a good one to avoid...Definitely NOT a clean read

I just recently removed this book from my TBR list after hearing numerous people talk about the sex. Its to bad because it sounds like a good story.

I wish that books had ratings like movies. This one would be an X for sure, becuase had I known I would never have started, it really was hard for me to stop reading because I was halfway through when I had read two very pornographic, terrible parts, but I was into the story, so I skipped to the end found out basically how it ended and read a few reveiws on good reads that had spoilers. anyway why don't books have ratings like that?
