The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Category: YA, science fiction
Published: 2008, 374 pages
Review: 5/5 stars
I started this book one evening last week and forced myself to put it down to go to bed. The next morning I picked it up again and couldn't put it down until I finished it that afternoon. The kids did whatever they wanted and the house was a crazy mess when I finally came up for air. It's been a long time since I've been that engrossed in a book. It was so much fun.

I'm not going to bother telling you much about this book. I've seen reviews for it everywhere and I don't remember anyone not liking it. It has everything a page turner needs; love, hate, danger, politics, death, and much more. I can't wait for the next book coming in September.

Rating: 1.4.2 The violence in this book is a little rough at times. The whole concept is pretty disturbing. Not for the faint of heart. (It's kind of funny that the nudity in this book didn't bother me like the nudity in Book of a Thousand Days. In this book it seemed fairly natural but in the other it seemed weird to me. I might be crazy.)

Yeah, it's a little hard telling people that this is a book about kids who kill each other, but you should read it anyway! I can't wait until the next one comes out too!

Just finished it- so good! I couldn't put it down! Have you read anything else by this author? I am really curious to try some of her other work now... Thanks so much for the great read!

When I first read the description for this book, I had ZERO interest. But I somehow convinced myself to read it and I really liked it. My book club then read it and they all loved it. Nudity didn't bother me at all in this one. It was all non-sexual. Probably why it didn't bother you?

Hey Kim! Did you read my review of this book last month? I also LOVED it! I read the whole thing in one sitting. LionsGate bought the rights to the movie. I'm wondering if it will be rated R for violence or if they'll water it down enough so that we could actually see it. We should go together if they do. :) I didn't even notice that there was nudity in this one. Guess I wasn't paying attention. Oops. Oh well. i thought it was a very clean read (if you take out the part about kids killing each other- lol).

I just started reading this book. I've been trying to avoid reading it until all the books in the series were published. Then it was nominated as a Beehive nominee and we are reading for a book club. Sigh.
