Mr. Darcy's Diary by Amanda Grange

Rating: 1.1.1
Recommended audience: Teen to Adult
Category: Historical romance
4 Stars

This is Pride and Prejudice from Mr. Darcy's point of view. Though it probably doesn't fit into the category of literary greatness, I really liked this book. I will probably read it again and again just like I read Pride and Prejudice over and over again. It can't really be compared to P&P but it sure is fun for all of us Jane Austen fans. Definitely recommended but don't read it before you've read P&P. I'm quite interested in picking up Grange's other books now, like Mr. Knightley's Diary.

Kim, I cannot wait to get this book and read it. I had never heard of it and I LOVE P&P. Thanks for the review and good ideas!

I've read Mr. Knightley's Diary, and while I liked it, I thought it could have been better written and some of the characterizations didn't quite ring true to me (that Mr. Knightley seems a little bothered by Mr. Woodhouse's idiosyncrasies, for example, seems off to me). Anyway, I'm still going to pick up Mr. Darcy's Diary. Have you read the trilogy by Pamela Aidan about P&P from Mr. Darcy's point of view? My recommendation is read books 1 and 3 and skip 2. It's a waste and completely unnecessary. Anyway, your blog is a fun idea!

Thanks, mhc, for the info. You'll probably find the same kind of things in Mr. Darcy's Diary. I can't think of any specific incidents but I know there were times when I thought, "Hmm, that's a different way of interpreting Darcy's reaction, thoughts, etc."

Thanks again for the comment and hope to hear from you often. :)
